Nice article. I felt the same way. I really hope they get the chance they deserve.
I think I'm in the minority because I was never a big fan of the Uly, but the basic 1190 bike with higher bars, more comfortable riding position slightly larger than RX fairing and bags would be very interesting to me.
A bike like that would be fun to ride but still comfortable and practical for long trips. Most "sport-tourers" seem to grow to the point that they swing way too far toward the luxury side and abandon the 'sport' part of the equation.

EBR had this lightly modified SX on display at the open house:
It's got a small windshield, hand guards, Pirelli Scorpion Trail tires, and EBR branded soft luggage, apparently made by Ogigo. It seems to have attracted a lot of interest.

They wouldn't let me get any closer to it for more pics, that was the best I could get.
