    My SX # 0002

    Hi All,

i finally got delivery of my SX this week, which is going into the process to be registered in the UK, which means i haven't ridden it yet :0, she is sitting in my garden...She is number 2 and apparently the number 1 was kept by the factory making mine the first on available to public ! Not really sure if this is a good or bad thing.

i have been fitting some R&G & Rizoma parts, and i am waiting for some performance parts to arrive soon; i will take some pics and will upload them here soon.

There are couple of things i wanted to ask you, i done a search but could't find anything.

when i rev the bike, at around 5/6k rpm the cluster is flashing red /orange? i though it might be a rev limiter or something, but wanted to check with you ...

also, i am going on a track day tomorrow, and i realised going through the faults, that i had a P0087 = 'fuel pressure system fault', the bike has 3 miles on the clock! the bike seems to run fine, i guess i will know more tomorrow, but has anybody had it and will it be harmful for me to ride it tomorrow?

    thanks in advance guys

    Marco

Welcome Marco. The red light is the traction control working most likely. What picture is that in your avatar?

I'm not real familiar with the RX/SX dash, but both my 1125R and my 1190RS light up like a Christmas tree when you hit soft limits.
I would expect the same from the production units; kind of a cross of shift light with over-rev-idiot-light.

P0087 is most likely from hitting the START button before the fuel rail is fully pressurized. Wait a second or two more.

    Enjoy, these bikes are rockets.

    Read the owners manual..!!
It SPECIFICALLY says, DO NOT to free rev the engine like that. Beside there being zero reason to do it in the first place..!

It sounds like SX #0002 isn't going to be long in this world...

You should, at the very least, break that engine and drive train in properly before you track day the bike. High rpms for any new motor builds a lot of heat and greatly reduces engine life. In other words, no free-reving the engine, keep the rpms below 6000 for the first 500 km and below 7500 until 1000 km. And even though it is not required by the manufacturer, I would change the oil after the first 100 kms, and again at the first 1000 km maintenance schedule. You will be surprised at the small bits of metal that are floating around in there after both oil changes. There are a lot of them with the first oil change, not as much in the second. Food for thought. Enjoy the new bike.

What model wilber's damper is that? Stroke, or even the total length. I could probably figure it out based on the sprocket size for reference, but it's just easier to ask.
