    Removing the gauge/head lite bracket

The above bracket on my SX is twisted & has to be replaced. After removing the bolts & wiring I found out that the key switch has to be removed. Problem is that there are 3 tamper proof bolts holding it in!
I've done them before by grinding a slot & backing them out with a screwdriver. Problem is that I don't think I can get in there with a grinder. Any ideas? Only other thing I could think of was to cut off the bracket near the bolts so I can get at the them without messing anything up!! Boo!

Even Harbor Freight carries those sockets.

But the bolt heads are flush with the bracket. What kind of socket would do that?

If so, that's a Torx security screw and you can get a Torx tool to fit that most places.

I just looked at it again. The bolt is flat like that but in the middle it seems to have a plug made from a different material. I tried to pick at it but it doesn't seem to want to pop out. Maybe it's like the old carb anti tamper mixture screws. They could be drilled & pop out. Any ideas on that? Don't want to screw them up & never get them out.

    1. unplug ignition,
    2. center punch the two break away fasteners,
    3. drill just big and deep enough to install a small easyout,
    4. remove three fasteners for ignition switch,
    5. remove last fastener for bracket.

So these are some kind of one-use fasteners that break off as they're being tightened?

Yes, they are considered one time use bolts.
