I have to agree with Han. For me it's a pass/fail thing. With black rims the flat silver looks good. With the red rims, nah. Maybe if any wheel coloring had been anodizing instead of paint it might have been appealing. 'Course the red bodywork is the only color i don't like either. I've seen an old X1 tuber with a bright blue frame and wheels that looked good.
90% of the sport bikes out there have black rims and have had them for 10+ years. How is a different color "dated"? I just never liked the look of a plain black rim with a black tire.Originally Posted by han

Red rims remind me of BMX bikes 35 years ago. When all the cool mongoose kids had mag rims. The poor huffy riders had red tires.

I was glad they stopped the wheel colors with the 2010 models. A cherry bomb was the only choice i had.
