    Race ECM question

I'm curious as to what all it does for the bike aside from letting you pop the secondary muffler off. I'm curious, as I'm tempted to get it... but I don't want to have it affect the bike in a bad way. I know the bike doesn't need more power. :D

It really smooths out the powerband. I assume because it gets rid of all of the "emissions" compliant tuning. It seriously makes the bike way better and is well worth it.

Allows denoid without resistor and lowers idle a couple hundred RPM

Idle speed is VERY close if not identical to the original ECM
Overall, what "noone" said. Well worth the money.

sounds good. Another question then: to run it properly, you should remove the secondary muffler, right?

Algorithmically, the ECM uses narrow-band O2 sensors for closed loop. The tunable ECM also has wide-band O2 sensor inputs so you can monitor actual AFR in PCM. PCM is the software to alter the ecm.

Correct. The race ecm programmed for the secondary delete is also a bit richer than the stock calibration, leaving the muffler in place (the side can) will make it run a bit richer yet.

Mine was already faster than I could use, but I got the ECM because I wanted the exhaust tips (sounds soooo much better). As a side bonus, the new ECM got rid of the hiccup I would find around 5k (I think it was 5k - may have been 4k). I also want to denoid the bike, and this makes that easier too.

Smooths out the power delivery, so there is no step in power at that 6.5 to 7k mark. The engine braking is also is reduced.
