Can the rear seat lock be replaced by a button?

I have the bike torn apart for paint right now - when thinking of putting it back together, I wonder if I have any options for the rear seat latch. It's not convenient to use the key, and I don't keep anything under the rear seat. Can I just replace it with a button to press to unlatch the seat?

But I'd guess it would depend on how creative and mechanically adept you are on who actually does the work.
