Where to buy and fit from 1125?
EBC and Barnett do not produce the springs and friction discs for this bike.
Nobody knows?
The clutch discs coming to end, I need replacement.
NCCR (Northern Classic Custom & race) they show them available on their website under EBR OEM parts/engine category.
Thanx for info.
But 46,2$ from one friction disc - it's crazy!
I had the Aprilia Dorsoduro 1200, she has also worn clutch discs. I ordered OEM friction discs for $ 34 per one, plus 6 springs. When they came to me through 2,5 month (!), it turned out that it is exactly the same friction discs as in the Dorsoduro 750, only their 10, not 9, and they are three times more expensive and they are no deficit.
Had I known about it, would not have to wait so long and so dearly paid for.
Such are the features of the market of spare parts ...
If the clutch plates are the same as the 1125, Barnett makes a upgraded set of plates. I just don't know if the 1190 and 1125 clutch plates are the same design, but I would bet they are.
Today I sent a request in Barnett:
"Hello! Clutch kit 303-30-20125 (for Buell 1125) compatible for EBR 1190? How much will it cost shipping to Russia? Best regards. Zviadi"
I received a reply:
"No, this clutch is not compatible with your model."
How many KMs have you on the factory clutch?
The 1125 and 1190 RX/SX use an identically designed clutch with similar plates.
They use different rate springs.
The 1190 RS uses a Suter clutch.
I bet Barnett is saying that because they have not tested their plates on the 1190, I don't think they know if their kit will fit the 1190 or not, so they just say it will not fit to protect themselves. I run the Barnett clutch on my 1125 and they work very well. I guess you could order a stock set for the 1125 from Harley Davidson and use the 1190 springs.
The Barnett kit will work. If you are super concerned about slippage, you can use a couple of preload washers on the OEM clutch springs.
I would not want to use any washers, in my understanding - is wrong. Not only the length of the spring, but in its rigidity. We must use the spring specified by the manufacturer, OEM or aftermarket.
The main thing that plates from 1125 to 1190 are suitable, with your words. A spring somehow pick up ...
Who knows the length of the clutch spring 1190 in a free state?
From Buell 1125: free length of clutch spring is 57 mm, force at length - 190 N @ 26,4 mm.
Barnett from 1125 had to order, can not wait, until Eric resume production of spare parts... Clutch is worn so much, that it rumbles as Ducati, and knocks gear.
Milleage is 13000 km.
Clutch from aprilia fits
From what model Aprilia?
From RSV1000R minimal free length of clutch spring is 44 mm. I doubt that they fits...
Zviadi,
Since you are such an expert on the machine and platform, why do you come here to troll us?
I was told by René prang, that is racing the 1190rx in Europe, he said he was using an Aprilia clutch and it's a direct bolt on, and you get a slipper clutch as well. No modifications needed. I didn't ask from what model but if you are such an expert it should be easy to find the right model.
I didn't troll and don't understand your sarcasm. I also don't understand your aggressive reaction to my questions.
I wrote on the last page, why am I interested the length of the clutch spring.
I thought you are interested in my experience to replace the clutch 1190 and whether it will Barnett kit. If not - then I'm sorry, I didn't write.
If you do not like my personality - you can always complain forum moderator.
I was two years RSV1000R. I don't want to talk me about it springs length - I have repeatedly changed her clutch and i have service-manual from this bike. I have the service manual of 1125, and there contains a completely different length of the clutch spring.
I can read, I can compare the two numbers and I don't need to incorrect information from you.
The yellow painted clutch springs, (original heavy springs) are 57mm long at rest.
No worries. Your intentions are understood to be very good by everyone else here. We appreciate your efforts in helping to solve issues with our bikes.
Doosh was just being a Douche with his last post. I am not sure how that translates in Russian, but douche is a derogatory term in American English. :smirk:
Best of luck, ride safe and hope to possibly meet you some day when my wife and I are in St. Petersburg.
Cheers,
Brian
Doosh just do not understand - what it means to be sole owner of EBR in Russia. It’s my everyday bike. I like him and I want ride it. I don't want him standing in the corner of my garage with a worn out clutch. Here moto season is too short...
Who me ask advice? The owners of jap, italian or german bikes? They still think that Buell used Harley engines.
Well, I still don’t know much English, I have to use a google translator. Probably I incorrectly translated his question. Translator can’t properly convey the tone of my question.
Welcome, Brian!
Good news. Thanks.
So you say that a aprilia clutch won't fint and this guy is lying to me. https://m.facebook.com/ErikBuellRaci...pe=3&source=42
What ever. Just trying to help.
Then tell me - why Barnett produces clutch kits with different part numbers from the Aprilias Rotax and Buell 1125?
because it's not the same clutch. But the whole aprilia slipper clutch also fits our ebr's. And that I know for a fact.
Funny... Why argue with me when it comes to different things? Even you accuse me of trolling...
On STOCK 1190 no slipper clutch. I do not need slipper clutch, I'm not a racer.
As for the different part numbers Barnett - I am absolutely sure, that the case in the length of the springs. And service manuals on these bikes available different lengths of the springs. I believe the manual - this is an official document.
I propose to wait until I come Barnett kit and I measure the length of the springs Barnett-kit springs and EBR springs.
PS: Rene Prang riding hard. Convey greetings and wish him luck in the races.
Today changed clutch discs at Barnett from 1125.
Measure free length of the springs:
- worn spring EBR1190 - 53 ... 55 mm (left)
- barnett spring - 63 mm (right)
Attachment 644
My resume - Barnett kit from 1125 is identical to 1190.
Feels after installation Barnett kit - motorcycle a little sharper went with idle and small rpm. Efforts on the clutch lever identical to the stock clutch 1190. Slave cylinder on my motorcycle too stock (no Oberon etc).
In the process of replacing the clutch found, that the old spring nibbled clutch drum:
Attachment 645
I have never encountered such. We'll have to change the basket and drum.
Are they from the 1125 and where to buy?
Hopefully soon they will be available through the new EBR, so you will have a new clutch to install over winter there and come spring time your bike will be like new. How is the oil issues coming along?
Are the Barnett friction disk pads the same size as EBR, or slightly bigger for more friction area?
According to the thickness of the friction discs I can not say anything - not measured.
By type of Barnett thicker than stock, but stock was already worn out.
Steel plates are the same.
Question about oil has not understood.
After installation Barnett kit was difficult to find neutral.
Who else are the symptoms and what to do?
One thing to do is blead the clutch lines again to ensure all air in the lines is removed. Don't forget there is a bleeder fitting located by the hand lever that needs to be blead also. Bleeding both fittings ensures the hydrolic fluid is not hindered with air bubbles and so the actuator piston can move through it's full range to disengage the plates.
Also, as the disks wear in and become thinner the clutch should disengage easier. It may just need to be ridden for a while to get those disks and plates bedded in flat.
Clutch bleeded - problem still exists. I noticed that when i press the clutch lever is not open properly, so do not find neutral when bike stand.
Possible causes:
1. Flows master cylinder.
2. Flows slave cylinder.
3. The thickness of barnett kit longer than stock.
I'm leaning towards the third option.
At EBR I have never had a problem finding neutral.
I was thinking ...
I had the Aprilia Mille. When she ended the clutch, it was difficult to find neutral too. Maybe thickness Barnett friction plates contrary - thinner than stock?
Photos friction plates:
Attachment 647Attachment 648
Unfortunately, I forgot to measure the thickness...
A spare set of used plates I have measures 46.56mm total stack height. They are dry and have been scuffed with a scotch bright pad so the height may be a bit big. The 10 steel plates measure 14.88mm total and the 9 fiber plates measure 31.60mm total. I could not find a spec for the height in the electronic service manual. Maybe it is in the dealer's service manual, and some other member can post that for everyone's benefit.
For Mille minimum stack height is 46.3 mm.
One of stock metal discs, which put in the basket first, has a notch (top on the picture):
Attachment 651
Metal discs Barnett such notches don't have. Maybe because of that notch clutch is fully opened?
Why this notch?
That is written in the manual of Rotax V990NG:
Attachment 652
That notch only gives reference that the disk goes in first. That is stamped steel and the stamping side (rounded edge) goes into the hub and the sharp corner faces up to the first fiber. The regular steel disks go in opposite, so the rounded edge is up and the sharp corners face down.
Just watched all metal discs, including disc with notch - no different from each other, no rounded edges. The disk with notch a little thicker. Perhaps because of the wear of other discs.
After 5000 miles - again it is time to change the clutch. Neutral does not find, even on the move. When the clutch lever is trying to ride the bike forward. The circuit was bleeded - does not help. Tomorrow ordering Barnett.
I have no lucky with the bike in this year)))
I've never heard of one person having so many issues with a bike before. It isn't the bike that is the issue, zviadi. Its the owner.
I'm curious to know - how much live friction discs on track only riders.
No information on the local track guru?
zviadi where did you end up on the clutch issue?
Sorry from my english, but I didn't understand your question. I have no problems with the clutch, except for rapid erasing. There are problems when find neutral.
At present I'm replaced two set of clutch (one stock and one barnett kit), both are erased to zero. Each is enough for about 6000 miles at my riding style.
Now I use third set of barnett kit, total mileage is 16000 miles.
Apologies :) I was curious if you had solved the issue of trouble finding neutral
Neutral are find easily only on the riding and with the engine off. Standing at the traffic lights it is difficult to find.
Five years ago I had Aprilia RSV1000R - she had the same problems. Maybe these are the features of Rotax engines and constructions based on them.
Maybe this is due to clutch basket wear...
In any case, I can't afford to replace clutch basket. I'll wait until the next clutch kit replacement and I'll decide.
Does the RX have a Judder or cushion spring? It’s and angled plate that goes inside of the first plate.
Yes, a little convex 1/2 plate in the back, and the basket springs.
This is such an amazing resource, I made a hard copy for the garage. Has torque specs too!
