Hello , I see you got some good input from a good source on the BuellXB guys.
It's just some people freaking out about a super, super rare anomaly and over-engineering an expensive solution.
If you're gonna modify and race your 'street bike', prepare to have it cost you money.
Basically, the tank vent purges to the front cyl. Purge valve fails, cause vac leak on front cyl, goes super lean and cyl goes *pop*.
Fix is to cap the port to the front cyl, vent the tank to atmosphere, be on your way.
It's nothing spectacular. I went almost 12k miles before doing it, still runs fine. Others popped their front cyl at 5k. YMMV
Wow! This is new to me. Just cap where the tank vent goes to front cylinder! Is it easy to get to?
Oh, I thought it was about the guy who threw a rod after adding a pipe, ECM, then racing on the track. FB people jumped all in on needing new cylinders or something on every EBR sold. IMO a little over-zealous, but YMMV.
The Evap valve can be plugged and won't throw a code. Inside the airbox, right side, on top of the charcoal canister.
Well that's easy enough! I'll do it next time I clean my air filter Thanks!!!
Oh yeah, THAT. The thought was the cylinder wall was too thin and taking too much stress. The 'fix' was iron-lined cylinders.
