I don't think they said yet. Mark Miller showed a lot of promise last year even though they had technical issues. I hope they'll go back.

I hope they let us know what kind of technical issues they ran into and their work-around. They have a lot better engineering resources then we do.

Last year they had problems with engine and yes the oil really does make a difference when you're running all out. I can't remember the exact quote from PitPass but it was something along the lines of " We can't really say due to a conflict of interest, you know how it is with sponsors..."

Mark Miller posted to Facebook today and confirmed he will be riding the Splitlath EBR at this year's Isle of Man TT! :bannana:

Mark Miller isn't making too bad of a showing on the EBR. Check out the links:

Pic from Splitlath's FB page, assume it was taken during practice today [Edit- on second thought- I bet it's from last year. Leathers and helmet don't match Mark's current gear]:

I'm not very familiar with the race or details, but it looks like he's running 27th in Superbike: http://www.iomtt.com/~/media/Files/2016/Qualifying-results/0206/Fast%20Laps%202.6%20Superbike.pdf

Which seems pretty good in such a large field.

Interested that he's right behind the Bimota. If he could beet them, that would give some bragging rights.

Here's an on-board video of a lap of the Isle of Man from Mark's EBR from 2014:

https://youtu.be/tpR-aOV29EE

Isle of Man is a small island off the coast of England. The race is run on city streets and country roads. One lap is ~38 miles. For the actual race, you complete 3 laps, which requires a refueling stop.

It looks pretty insane, but MAN would that be a rush!

BTW- Mark posts daily updates to Facebook. First day out they had a clutch issue apparently caused by soaking the clutch plates in different oil than they're running in the engine. Fixed that, then had a minor vibration which was found to be caused by not torquing the rotor bolt properly. Running was flawless after that. Yesterday, got the suspension mostly sorted so the bike is handling the rough pavement well.

Hopefully we'll see big gains now that he can get down to business.

So a DNF for EBR, I wonder what happened?

Crap- no Facebook update from Mark today yet.

What's the difference in "DNF" (Mark) and "retired" (Brandon Cretu, Mark's former teammate)?

No idea, lets just hope its not another engine failure or dropped valve.

This indicates he was still running on the last lap; he must have had a problem very late in the race:

Maybe he ran out of gas???? It looks like he had a good pace up until the end.

^ They had issues with that the first year they ran IIRC (2014?). They have to run an auxiliary fuel tank under the seat like the EBR's ran in WSBK, and even with that they have to refuel once.

the number of laps is meant to have at least one pit for gas. Wouldn't think it would be gas issue. I'm sure they will say something.

Update from Mark; they lost the engine.

TT 2016 update 08 - Superbike race:

Family and friends, regarding Superbike the engine oil light went on after 5 1/2 laps of hard racing and the motor expired shortly after. We made up 11 positions on track before the mechanical failure despite some 20 second longer per pit stops due to our two fuel tank scheme. The EBR was working perfect seeing us eclipse our best ever lap time on the machine and the team did a great job. Needless to say we were gutted not to bring her home yesterday.

Regarding Shoey I'll only mention I arrived to the accident about 10 seconds after it happened and it was a heart wrenching scene. Paul was a true friend and this is a extremely hard thing to process and I truly don't know at this moment if I'll be able to race the remainder of TT with any real conviction, if at all. We will try, as he would want.

I'm a zombie today and I won't pretend that any words I might express here on Facebook would make anyone close to the situation feel any better. I will say simply that Paul was a unique human being who was very well liked by all and whom possessed a pleasant honest genuine intelligent caring nature that made him one of my favorite people on earth, I'm lucky to have been influenced by him.

Mark

Superbike rider Paul Shoesmith was the 2nd rider killed yesterday; RIP Paul.

*** SPOILER ALERT ***

Mark finished 23rd in today's Superstock race. Pretty impressive considering he started out in 52nd place!

BTW- the Superbike race is 6 laps long; today's Superstock race was 4 laps.
