I am buying a race ECM from IDS, (LAP is out of stock of ECMs and tips). Does anyone know where I can buy exhaust tips after I remove the secondary muffler?

You can take that secondary muffler to a decent performance muffler shop and they can copy the bends real easy on two pieces of stainless for the tips. Or if you aren't wanting to keep that stock secondary unit for returning the bike to stock form then the tips can be cut from them instead. I don't know if they are stainless though, so the cut ends may rust. These may be available also. http://ebutik.nccr.se/ebr-erik-buell-racing-1/ebr-exhaust/ebr-1190-rx-sx-exhaust-tips

I plan on just getting the race ECM and then cutting my own tips from some exhaust pipe I buy from a local parts store - use some high-temp black paint to finish. Not a huge amount of shiny bits on the bike, a good flat black finish would go with the remainder of the bike's aesthetics IMHO.

NORMAL...muffler shops CANNOT duplicate the bends..! Normal muffler shops have bending equipment that crushes the inner portion of the tube.
If you want clean bends, you need "mandrel" bent tubes. If you go to header building shops, shops that build custom car exhaust systems, they should have good parts. I was lucky in that there's a shop near me that had three different bend diameters to choose from. Luckily, I brought the secondary muffler with me to match the bend radii.
Places like Borla, Spintech, Flowmaster, etc., should be able to provide what you need. Remember to get stainless steel tubes , or plan on getting the tubes ceramic coated to keep the rust at bey.

"normal" local muffler shop bent these from a couple pieces of scrap stainless. I painted with rattle can metallic black header paint. Been rockin them since last summer with no issues and I'm pretty satisfied for the ~$40 and an hour that it cost me..... to each his own I guess...

I bought 2 - 45° mandrel bent elbows from Summit Racing and easily made my own. Elbows cost $20ish each, cutting is tricky, polished them and sprayed with high temp satin clear coat. They're not amazing, but an alternative to paying too much for tips. 1032

Before cutting the "slash tip", here's how the 45's looked. When I measured the angles of the stock exhaust I got 46 and 50 degrees. Figured 45 for each would work. Length was trimmed. 1033

Nice looking tips Sparky949. Did you get the fully programmable ecm or just the race tips ecm to compensate for the leaner fuel mixture?

I did the same thing that Sparky did...only I twisted mine a little to touch at the tube exit.

Can anybody confirm if LAP has any tips for sale? I found this part number S0820.14C1 Rev C for "Tailpipe Finisher" on the sales spreadsheet for $58.00 and it says they have 166 in stock.

S0820.14C1 Rev C

Seems pretty cheap to me but it must be both tips or else there would be two part numbers?

Either Dean Adams makes them , or you can go to any muffer shop, you can go with ID or larger go OD , Take in your own piece of titanium and give it a blue trim for a cool look. as I did before I got my APH. Once you start you can't stop.

Dean Adams isn't selling any parts right now or I would order them from him. I was planning on having a shop do it (it's not hard) but I'd prefer the factory parts so I thought I'd check if they were available and I ran across that part number.

What diameter pipe are the tips, anyway?

From what I understand when Dean A gets six weeks out on in his work he shuts down his web page to catch up.

You *will* do damage to the engine if you're still running the stock ecm and have the secondary removed (the side pipe), especially if you run it hard. It's borderline too lean in stock trim anyway to meet EPA regulations, altering the exhaust without corrected tuning is going to damage it. It may not happen right away, but it WILL happen.

I can supply the ecm and tips kit if you need one, I just have everything disabled in my webstore currently. Email me direct. sales@cbbdllc.us

Is this your tuning guy?

If not i'll email you. Im just after an ecm change to suit since you say it will get damaged if run hard. Probably too late lol.
