View Full Version : Steering Damper Servicing
Any tried servicing the damper? Do the ends unscrew? I want to go with thicker oil instead of buying a new damper.

Stock damper? Don't bother, throw that POS in the garbage and replace it with an adjustable unit.

I'm using the Ohlins from the original EBR kit. It's longer than ideal, but still works quite fine.

20160208_102626.jpg I installed a cheap 255mm long adjustable steering damper. I had to switch the end around. It works great.

Looks like a Chinese $45 ebay unit. Was curious to know if those things even worked

It shipped from the states, but I am sure it is imported. It is very adjustable. Lite for slow speed stop and go and firm for speed. When set firm it is much firmer than the stock one. I did use small bushings on the 6 mm bolts to adjust for the 8 mm bolt holes. Only time will tell how well it lasts.

I ended up getting a K-Tech damper ( a little under $400 fro EDT performance) and press fit bushings from mcMaster Carr (8486A413). Tried it on the track today and it worked great
