Former Buell owner just became an EBR owner today. I bought 2014 1190SX #0145 (Laguna Blue) from BMW Motorcycles of Jacksonville. It has 14.5 miles, but that's about to change quite a bit very soon. :)

I've already ordered the Patriot graphics from Dick's Racing, and will be deciding which route to go on the tail tidy this week. Other than that, I need to find some nice bar end mirrors and order the Dean Adams muffler. That should hold me over for a little bit.

Out with the old:

In with the new:

Congrats.

Get Dean's pipe on it so I won't have the only ridiculously loud ebr in Jax when I move =)

I decided to go with the factory style tips and ECM. Fortunately, Dean had it available on his site, so I was still able to spend my money with him rather than some company I don't know. :)

I decided against putting on the Patriot graphics:
http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y109/WilliamWalker/IMG_0691_zpskq0kork1.jpg (http://s4.photobucket.com/user/WilliamWalker/media/IMG_0691_zpskq0kork1.jpg.html)
They look great, but being a limited color option, I don't really want to hide that. If anything, I may try to tie in more Laguna Blue in other places.

I also ordered some CRG Arrow mirrors and picked up a license plate mount for the undertail today. Once the parts all arrive the bike should really start taking shape.

The pic is from the Dick's Racing website. I called and spoke to Dick, and he had someone make it for him. You can call to order the same graphics kit through Dick's racing for $199.

Took off the stock mirrors and switched to a set of CRG Arrow mirrors. Much better looking and better visibility. With the stock mirrors, I was just seeing my arms and out to the lane beside me. With the new ones I can see all the way behind me. Very happy with the result.

The only surprise in swapping the stock mirrors out is that the stock mirrors themselves function as the bolts securing the brake and clutch reservoirs on the handlebars. You will need a M10x1.25 bolt. The shortest I could find was a 20mm, yet that is too long. You'll need to bring it down to around a 15mm length. I threw some spacers on temporarily to make the 20mm work, but I'll be shaving the bolts down at my next opportunity.

Cleaned up the tail a bit. Got rid of the stock resonator and license plate bracket. I didn't want the traditional tail tidy, but rather something flush to the undertail. Got this kit from Cycle Gear for about $55 total. Not sure how long it will last before I find something more "factory" looking, but I'm much happier with this than I was with the stock setup.

Next few things on the list are removing warning labels, installing some axle sliders, and getting the first service done in the next 100 miles. Once that is done, I should be ready to dyno it and see how she fares.

On my SX the bar ends are machined out at the ends and the CRG mirror adapters don't tighten up securely. How are yours for being secure?

Thanks. If I've got the car too close to the bike in the garage, I'll turn the mirrors up while in the garage. I like having that option.

Mine have been great. I've only had them on for a few hundred miles, but no looseness at all so far.

Thanks! After I tore the bike down I ordered a CF rear fender to match the front, so my parts didn't ship out to the painter until last week. Hopefully I'll have my parts back in a few weeks and be back up and running before too long.

Not being able to ride while the weather has been nice is just killing me.

Some updates. Got her put back together and almost ready to ride.

I had Jason LeCavalier repaint the original Laguna Blue parts, plus paint the rest of the headlight pieces and the sides of the undertail (I love how that came out). Ordered a Bestem carbon fiber rear fender to match my factory Buell carbon fiber front fender, then he added an American Flag themed stripe on them and the mid-fairing before clearing. Lastly, all the decals were removed and the graphics were painted on.
Since I have the CF fenders, I added the CF heel guards and radiator shrouds. I almost always wear boots when riding, but on one of the few times I wore regular shoes, a shoelace got snagged inside the cutout of the stock heel guard, so part of the swap there is for safety. The matte CF radiator shrouds was just because I had them off already anyway.
Since I removed the stock mirrors anyway, I swapped out the bolt in its place for a 1 inch RAM mount for my GPS. I will be putting another RAM mount on the other side for my GoPro.
I also had the dash reflashed with the new updated software.

I removed the first version of the license plate undertail mount that I had. Version 2.0 will be from Twisted Designs, and should hopefully be in tomorrow. I should have it installed by Friday.

There are a few things left that I didn't want to tackle myself, so the bike will be going in the shop soon. I will have them install the 2015 red spring (475 lbs/in), the new starter, 2015 EBR lighter clutch kit, and change out the stock reservoirs for Rizoma. Once those are done, I should be set for at least a little while. Next things further on the horizon should be heated grips, exhaust system that replaces the headers, and Ohlins suspension. Anyone have some winning lottery numbers? :)

I only had the stock setup on my bike for about 3 weeks, so hard for me to say. I can say that when I use the turn signals at night tonight, the rears seem to light up more than the fronts. That was from my perspective on the bike at a light. Not sure if that helps.

I live local to the manufacture and can attest that the led lights are super bright (have seen their kits first hand). Definitely drastically brighter compared to the stock bulbs. Additionally no resistor pack is required and indicators function properly.

That's good to hear - I went ahead and ordered one last night. Seller wasted no time with shipment, it is already on its way. They also sent me a message giving me a heads up of the tools needed to make the install easier. Good customer service so far. Thanks for the info.

This week I've been looking into duplicating the saddlebag setup that was on the yellow 1190SX at the relaunch party in March. I ordered the bags which came in last week, and began to play with them. To make them stable, there needs to be some sort of framework for the bags to rest against and possible on as well. I'm looking into manufacturers who make saddle bag supports to see if there is a simple bolt on option before having something fabbed up on my passenger pegs.
The original bike that I'm basing it upon:
http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y109/WilliamWalker/EBR/781576_zpshjzxpyze.jpg (http://s4.photobucket.com/user/WilliamWalker/media/EBR/781576_zpshjzxpyze.jpg.html)

As you can see in the pics if you look closely, they have fabricated some bars as support for the bags. My next step is to mimic that. Here is what I have so far. Still playing with placement, so it isn't adjusted to its final placement.
http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y109/WilliamWalker/EBR/2016-09-02%20-%20Test%20fitting%20OGIO%20saddlebags%2016_zps55gr e7xa.jpg (http://s4.photobucket.com/user/WilliamWalker/media/EBR/2016-09-02%20-%20Test%20fitting%20OGIO%20saddlebags%2016_zps55gr e7xa.jpg.html)

As you can see in the last pic, there is nothing keeping the bags from swinging under the tail.
Once that step is figured out and completed, the last step should be creating EBR badges to replace the factory OGIO badges.

Had Jim Walker's Motorcycles in Daytona work on the bike this week. They installed the easy clutch kit, 2015 rear spring, and new updated starter.

Things left to do:
Figure out EBR logo for saddlebags
Sprocket & calibrate or upgrade to programmable ECM
Power socket install for GPS
Heated grips (when EBR puts them out)
Install sliders
Quick shifter (maybe)
Front brake scoop (RX for now - maybe RS later)
Luimoto rear seat install and design front seat cover

Luimoto rear seat installed. Very happy with the result. SP Midnight Blue was the right color to match the paint. Originally I tried Deep Blue, but it was a little too light. I'll probably throw one or two more staples in around the tip at the end, but other than that it's great. Next up will be coming up with a design for the front seat in matching leather and maybe also ordering a matching blue rear strap to help it blend in with the seat.

Awesome looking bike, sir.

FWIW, the strap can be carefully tucked down into spaces inside the compartment to allow easier removal/replacing of the pillion resulting in a cleaner look but yet still be there when there is a need to carry a passenger. Plus if done correctly it does not interfere with the helmet locks.
