After working with Erik for 5 years, Joe Sousa and I have completed a documentary about the EBR story, The Ragged Edge. The timing of the release is obviously a difficult one, given the recent events in East Troy. However, we think the film gives a good look into what EBR was all about, why they were able to accomplish what they did, and how they might succeed again in the future. The film is premiering on PBS in Wisconsin in May, but is available now to stream.

Please consider taking a look. Erik, Joe, the crew and myself put a lot of effort into getting the story right and we're excited to share it with the EBR community.

Thanks,

Matt Sienkiewicz

Looks really cool! But the timing is tough. I'll try to check it out when I get a chance.

I watched it last night. Wow. It's a great movie, and a real emotional roller coaster, especially given recent events.

One thing- I don't care how big of a skeptic you are, it WILL convince you there is NO way Erik will take this latest setback lying down.

Thanks for the feedback, we really appreciate it. I agree, Erik's not one to give up, as the film and his life make clear. I don't know what he's up to, but there's no quit in him, I'm sure of that.

By the way, if anyone has seen the film and wants to ask questions- please feel free. Very happy to talk about our experiences making it.

I feel like some light editing needs to be done to, at least slightly, cover the most recent events as well as a dialogue or voice over section either at the beginning or end stating some interesting facts. You could use the same facts that are displayed throughout the film just condensed into that section with a little something extra to say to add to the inspiration. But watching this with the recent events is certainly emotional to anyone who has followed Erik for any small time.

I would hope that either a whole new ending could be added, or maybe a sequel that features Erik getting sprayed with champagne by his rider from the WSBK podium.

The latter would be amazing. We will add some material to address current situation. The more the word about the film spreads, the more we'll be able to add material and keep it up to date. A victory scene would be ideal, of course.

EBers-

Doing a little research- let me know if you would be interested in a DVD of The Ragged Edge. It would include extra footage, including extended interviews w/Erik and more racing footage, particularly from the 1190s perspective. If you think you'd order one, let me know as we decide how to go about making it.

Our US TV premiere is coming up this week, so any social media help would be super appreciated:http://wptschedule.org/episodes/4578466 ... ack-Story/ (http://wptschedule.org/episodes/45784669/Directors-Cut-Presents/The-Ragged-Edge-An-American-Comeback-Story/)

And, of course, we're still streaming: https://vimeo.com/ondemand/theraggededge

It's a shame all the PBS stations aren't running it. Looks interesting.

My bride and I watched it last weekend and it was great and did show the Erik we know.
soways signing bikes and chatting it up.
A dvd with extras, sure! I'm in.
I was hoping to see the frustration when the new EBRs had to add weight to compete. That and the problems of where to put it would have been terrific.

fantastic job!

Great audio interview about the Ragged Edge with Matt's co-director Joseph Sousa here:

Interview with Joe starts at about 29 minutes.
