I need a valve adjust and the usual drive train repairs (chain, sprockets, chain slider).

You do know these are relatively easy to work on, right?

I've heard that and I'm glad to hear that, but for big jobs, I can't afford mistakes.

It only takes time and attention to detail. Most guys with a small toolbox and basic hand tools can do this job. Having a lift or stand is beneficial.

I'm with Dean on this one (as usual:astrosmiley:). The intimacy with your motorcycle and satisfaction you get from doing the job yourself is well worth the learning curve.
After you do it one time yourself you will never trust a stranger to do it for you again.

And yes, I admit it, I've been a mechanic for most of my adult life, so it's pretty easy for me and not much scares me about working on stuff. I do industrial maintenance now, so the scale of parts is considerably larger than working on a bike, but it's just paying attention to what you're doing and it goes very easy.

Hey Ken - hope you get her on the road soon. Were you able to find anyone or decide to try it yourself?
