Your bike looks nice, great color! How well is it running with your exhaust set up? Have you notices any changes in the torque curve or throttle response. All the ones I have seen run with out it and not have the factory race exhaust seem to stumble on throttle blips. So how does it run?

Good eye .. didn't notice the resonator was removed. Looks like 2 slash cuts sticking out now. If I did it I would leave the bottom pipe closed off like it is from the factory.

i'm starting to see more EBR product at the track. One of our instructors is sporting a tricked out red RX and watching him dice it with others I had a few thoughts...
1. Do I look anywhere near that cool on my bike?- The RX is a SEXY machine with the exhaust tips on!

and

2. Man its sort of a stealth bike. Its not loud but it has it's own exhaust character which seems much more pronounce on the bike than off.

I dont use the EBR on the street.

I think, the EBR is the best Buell Erik ever build.
So much more power than my 1125, solid on the brake, strong in sloping position, easy to turn and handle.
I really love this bike, every time i see it i must smile, but also we are really sad about Eriks trouble and hoping the best for EBR.
We will lose a real diamond on the streets.

Thanks a lot, oddball.
The Buells and the EBR have a fantastic design, a perfect line from factory on.
All i have to do is to underline some forms and use some areas.
And yes, i love details more than an eye-catching paintjob.

Hello buell-fan, when i get it, Jens mixed some fairing parts before.
So she had the galactic black front fairing and white airboc cover and back fairing from the SX.
So i paint her complete new.

Thanks for the interesting pic from the factory.
The germans and other europeans love black and the SX in black will be a perfect colour for a succesfull selling in germany or europe.
Even the RX in red/grey is the most beautyfull version of the RX.
The bikes have so much potential, it hurts and make me crying to see EBR closed.

My problem is, that i need my driver license for my job.
Where i live, we have a lot of hills and curves, so a lot of motorcycle riders has died and now we have a lot of police and speed controls in our region.
So the XB is perfect for our region, not the fastest, but damn funny in curves.

At the moment we have a discussion about other motorcycles in the german forum.
Most of the other bikes are better, faster, easyer to handle, cheaper or safer than a Buell or EBR.
But in attraction or experience they all lose to our american beautys! :nana:

The all carbon and airbrushed XBr is mine and the black and yellow is my dads. he bought his back in 04 as a brand new bike. and i envied him so much so when i turned 18 i went looking for one, but couldn't find one in Denmark, so I looked at ebay and found one in London, one owner and with 1200 km on the clock. I jumped on the plane and drove it back from UK to Denmark the week after i won the auction, sadly i had to wait almost 2 years before i could afford the insanely high tax(250%) that we have on all bikes and cars here in Denmark. So I spent that time thinking about how i thought a Buell should look like.
And I think i got the love for bikes from my dad. when I was little i used to watch him build HD from the ground up.

My problem is, that i need my driver license for my job.

I see your problem. Im glad I just have my license for fun, it's more og less useless for the job i have.
I wish Denmark wasn't as flat and boring as it is. I have to go to Germany or Sweden to get some hills or curvy roads.

That is so true and I really dont care that there is better bikes out there, I still find myself standing and just looking at my XB for long periods of time once in a while, because it just looks so good. And I don't think I would ever get that same feeling if I owned a Honda or another jap bike.

Yeah, great, thats really cool when you and your father have 2 customized Buells.
And i know these crazy actions to get one.
I know about the high tax in denmark too. 2 years of waiting is really horrible. Respect for this!
But growing up with a HD building father must be a little boys dream. You´re a lucky guy!

I will never forget 3 rounds on a little track with a Triumph Street Triple.
First round:

Mods: Magnesium rear wheel, "old man " pegs, HMF Exhaust with Akra TI Can from Ducati 1098 s.

Weight now 425 Lbs with full tank.

Have since made an aluminum hanger bracket that moved the band back about 3 inches from what's seen in this picture.

How do you tell the difference between the magnesium rim versus the aluminum rim?

The Buell wheel is a "wheel", not Just a rim..!
Hub, spokes and rim, cast as one piece = wheel.
You need removable hub and spokes to have a separate "rim..".

Buell may still have some.

They only have rears, however, and no fronts.

Rear wheel came with tire and disk rotor and weighs about 6 or 7 Lbs less than the aluminum version.

The magnesium wheels are sand cast and have a rougher finish than the aluminum.

C.Dolans answer is not to be used as the proverbial, "Gospel".
If you take it that way...you might just be fooled.
There and "many" ways to manufacturer items both materials.

Info on wheels was relayed to me , directly from EBR.

I also weighed the magnesium wheel, which was 6 Lbs lighter than the aluminum wheel.

My SX is now down to 425 Lbs. ( with lighter exhaust and rear wheel ) .

I've only been riding and wrenching bikes for 50 years, so what do I know ?

So, there's your gospel for today.

Norbert - what are you using to block off the turn signal holes? I plan on using mirrors with integrated turn signals and need something to cover the hole left by the stock turn signals.

Thanks, and great looking bike!

I guess I'll start it off, Let's see those pictures of you and your 1190RX

217Photos
These are photos of a two into two system that I made to replace the catalytic convertor (not required in New Zealand). I utilised the first section of the Cat. as the two header pipes are different sizes and I wanted to balance the system in this area. I measured the weight saving at more than 5.5kg

How do you handle the tune so it doesn't run lean? Custom tune or are you using something off the shelf that's close to what you have?

I reset the ECM by disconnecting the battery for a night, then starting the bike without throttle and letting it idle for 15minutes (without touching the throttle at any time), turned off and allowed to cool. This was what I was told to do by a friendly dealer when I altered my KTM990 Adventure several years ago and it seems to have worked - there is no hint of the bike running out of tune. In fact it runs way better on low revs than before. On the original system it wasn't happy running below 60KPH in third gear, now it pulls it nicely. I know that it looks a bit scruffy with the chain oil on top of it but in reality it does look pretty good even if I have to say so myself.

How many kilometers drove you with this exhaust modification? How often you turn the engine to the cut-off?
Two years ago, Eric issued a press release, which said that it is not recommended to modify the exhaust without replacing the ECU. Since this can lead to engine damage.
I also want to make such modification, but I'm afraid of engine damage.

If you open (make it flow better !) the exhaust, you need to feed it more fuel. Simple physics.

Playing with the "original" ECM isn't going to do much of anything. Just like setting the throttle position hot or cold. This "moves" the original maps around a little...it does NOT change them..!
Similar to what Paulus did. He may think it's better, it isn't. Not without actually "changing" the hex cell values, not just "moving" them around a little.

I would shoot an email to IDS and ask them about it. As far as I'm aware the ECM is not that adaptive, and I have never heard of anyone "resetting" the ECM as you described. Maybe in the KTM bikes that works, but I'm pretty sure it doesn't on ours.

About what and speech. I also have not heard that the ECU of 1190 RX/SX has been adaptive.
KTM I had too (SD 990) - it had to be remapped.

Yes
Or have it remapped by IDS. They may be able to do such over the internet so you don't have to pay the shipping.

To clarify, the ecm will use the 02 sensors to adjust in low rpms. After that the ecm takes over and the programmed fuel and timing maps, which were made "exhaust configuration specific", take over and deliver the programmed amounts of spark and fuel. If would be wise to get a programmable ecm from IDS and dyno tune the bike for that new style of system. You don't want it blowing up on you at high speed, thing get ugly quick.

Here's mine. I bought the race only straight from the factory. It was one of the demo bikes. Got the quick turn throttle/ohlins shock/quick shifter, HMF exhaust (which we cut down 4 inches), Race ECM, keyless start from Woodcraft, race gas cap, carbon fiber huger, sprocket cover, fan inserts. Apex MFG. in Michigan is making a custom triple tree to house the RSV4 front end off of my RSV4 race bike. The suspens is KTech 25mm internals, Brembo GP4RX calipers, BrakeTech Axis Iron rotors, RSV4 Factory Forged Aluminum front wheel, Brembo RCS19 master, Ohlins damper, Spiegler steel braided lines and a black shorty clutch lever. Gettin it wrapped the same as the RSV4. Either going to try and sell the aprilia with the stock front end or part it out. I will miss that damn bike lol. Here they are at the shop getting ready for the swap. I also attached a pic of the side for reference of the shortened HMF pipe. Sounds amazing!

We're shooting for 375lbs with 1 gallon of gas and I think with the ECM/HMF pipe it's supposed to be around 175hp to the wheel??? I was told anyways. Checking to see if they have any leftover MAG wheels. I'll be racing it in Heavyweight Twins, A Superbike and Formula(Unlimited)
