Just got a call from Mike at EBR. They are shipping my order today. Stuff to replace damaged stuff. Got a front & rear wheel off ebay. They will be here by Friday I hope. Didn't need the rear but I like to have an extra so I can mount a tire on it. That way when it needs to be replaced I have it ready to go.
Now I can have both front & rear that way.
Parts are pricey from EBR but I had insurance money.
So they are shipping to civilians now.

Yeah I ordered a front sprocket and chain sliders.. they are being super frugal to us "civilian" people's I ordered two sliders and they sent back a e mail saying they won't support hoarding of parts. I chuckled a little. Hoarding parts -2sliders huhhh haha

^ That's crazy. I guess reverse-engineering the slider should be high on the list of things to do if we want to keep these bikes running.

I noticed tonight that the text in the header on the top of EBR's page has been changed in the last few days:

In light of recent news, existing warranties on 2016 and 2017 motorcycles sold by EBR Motorcycles LLC will remain in full effect.
EBR Parts will sell at MSRP prices through the standard ordering process. Excess Liquidation Parts & Discounts are available HERE (http://www.liquidap.com/portfolio/3958-id-ebr-motorcycles-parts-liquidation/).

How do they know you don't have two bikes? I could see if you wanted 50 sliders, but 2?

All we need is an unused one. Throw it in the 3d printer, or just take it to a plastics manufacturer.

Yeah after I pleaded:hail: with them to send my full order, And mentioned I just wanted them for long term use for years of fun with my new tricycle. The then sent back on how to adjust my chain slack...lmao no way they just didnt..:headshake:

SO they are warrantying the slider for the lifetime of the bike if the chain tension is properly set?

Didn't think so.

I know a guy who does polymer manufacturing, I should take a slider to him to see what it can be made for.

I have a brand new one let me know I will send it to you and get it 3D scanned or whatever and send it back to me

I'll probably try to find out what type of polymer it is and then see about having it manufactured. If not I'm sure he can find out what type it is. I'll see if I can call him tomorrow.

What happened to the user that was developing the brass chain guard? I did a quick search here and can't find it. He posted on Badweb as well. Seemed like a good idea, but was before I'd purchased mine, so I didn't jump on it then.

Here's the thread on Badweb: http://www.badweatherbikers.com/buell/messages/713493/793011.html?1479059592

and here's the thread on this forum: http://ebrforum.com/showthread.php?1134-Bronze-swingarm-saver-that-supplements-the-OEM-chain-rub&highlight=Bronze

Looks like he hasn't posted on either forum since last year.

Hugh, you are a better searcher than I

A brass slider would be super neat and cool to look at.. I think the original slider is cheap toy plastic, we need to make it out of that hard dirt bike plastic sliders. I have more miles on my dirt bike sliders and they pretty much ride on the slider at all times and they are less chewed up than my EBR one. And I am real anal about chain slack and torque specs.

Changing the type of plastic is no problem. I need to look at one to see if I can mill it at home. If not I'll see about the 3D printer and Cnc manufacturing. Injection molding probably won't be an option for the type of polymer we want

What about using flat stock and gluing or "welding" it together?

You mean for a prototype or for a functional unit?

MakingPAIN

So this is the new one sent to me by EBR. It is NOT the same as mine that came on my bike it is a more rigid polymer. 1514

And the chain ride part is thinner in width

Yeah, I think I'll forego trying to make one. Definitely needs to go the the shop. Here's a thought, someone makes those for EBR, they are all set up to manufacture them. We should try to find out who and contact them.

I was thinking for a functional unit, but now that I'm looking at a photo, I see the OEM part is a fairly complex shape. You could probably make a workable substitute out of flat stock, but it wouldn't be very close to the original part.

Agree. It is a fairly complex shape. I was thinking it was simpler for some reason.

Yeah thought the same thing about how complex it was.. I like the idea about finding who makes them for EBR and sourcing them out or maybe the will give out the dxf cad file and we could make them

That file is probably included in the IP LAP is still trying to find a buyer for.

Perhaps, this does not mean you can't request they manufacture a replica if you send them the model.

According to a couple of people on Facebook today, apparently EBR is getting more swingarm guards and bodywork manufactured due to high demand and to ensure they have enough on hand to support warranty work on 2016 & 2017 bikes.

1190SX
07-01-2017, 10:09 PM
Probably shouldn't have thrown all that extra bodywork in those bins to get trashed. Hindsight is 20/20.

It sounds like much if not all of that stuff was flawed in some way- scratched, broken tabs, etc. still, people were probably glad to get it.

All the bodywork in the bins had defects. They did not put good bodywork in there. This is a response from EBR tech,

No 1190 service parts were sold in the auction. Only used parts or parts with cosmetic or other defects.

Sign wasn't there when I was was on Day 1.

I sorted through both bins, while there were a ton of "damaged" parts, there were definitely some serviceable items, like the two upper fairings for my galactic black rx. I picked the only 2 that were decent.
