Hi everyone,

I just wanted to introduce myself to the forum.

Two weeks ago I became the proud owner of 2017 1190SX #21. I am still working through the break in mileage and changing a few items to personalize the bike to fit me and my riding style a bit better.

I spent many many weeks on this forum, digging into everything about the EBR's I could find. I want to thank each and every one of you for your interactions here, as the wealth of knowledge I found answered all of my pre purchase questions, and ultimately led to my decision to move forward with the purchase.

Ride safe everyone,
Dave

Welcome Dave, I have a 15 SX , since you have done your home work , is a 17 any different from my 15 SX?

From what I understand the differences between the 15 and 17 are pretty much evolutionary in nature.

If any of this is incorrect, anyone feel free to jump in and correct me.

Bodywork on the tail was modified where it tended to break.
Rear spring rate changed.
Lighter clutch pull.
Software updates.
There was a running change in the way the exhaust headers were welded, but I'm not sure when that actually took place, it could already have been on the 2015's.

In my opinion (take that for what it's worth) the stock headers would have been fine had the OEM builder of them just simply spent a little bit of money purging them during the weld process. They're breaking due to the welds being crappy. Purging stainless exhaust for welding is required, the exception being a paste called solar flux B which can replace the argon mix if there isn't any way to purge the back side of the weld.

Welcome, where in Tx are you? Congrats on the new ride. Any pics to share?

Just outside of Austin.

No pics worthy of posting yet, once I get all of my mods done, I will be sure to throw some up here.
I have all of the parts and pieces, minus Dean's exhaust. I still need to order that.

Oh not too far, I'm in SA. I feel ya on the mods. I'm still trying to put "break-in" miles on the bike

246 miles is enough for the "break-in", right?

Rear spring and lighter clutch pull started in '15
2 piece tail and updated software started in '16 ('14 and '15 owners can send in their dash and ecm for a free software update)
I hadn't heard of the exhaust difference - is there any documentation anywhere about that? (Not doubting you - just want to read more about it)

I have a 2 piece tail on my 2015 SX I think the dealer(Action Motorsports)had all the 16 updates done to my 15 including dash.

Grats on the SX! What color did you get? I'm picking up my strike yellow 2017 SX at the end of the month.

Gunmetal Gray. 1300 miles so far. I have a few mods left, but for the most part it is done. Fast, loud, and it fits me just right.1557

It will be getting a tidy tail, just ran out of time as we hit our busy season at work.
I also have a Power Bronze seat cowl that needs to get painted before that gets installed.

Yeah Doug we can EBR together lol. The summers are not our riding season here. It is way too hot to ride I just sit on the forums and troll out. I don't have a Facebook so all I got is this to kill my time. And dream of winter time to ride again

EBRrider... This could be a really dumb question, but why doesnt the rear seat cowl cover the whole seat like most do in the sport bike world

EBRRider
07-18-2017, 11:54 AM
Good ? , I quess its the way Power Bronze makes it, You would have to ask them . They are the only company that I could find that makes them.

MakingPAIN

just thought since you have one and installed it you would have seen a reason behind not making it cover the whole seat.. locking issue or something like that is why they went with a different design

noone1569 i like it...is that the SBK hot bodies tail or the RACE version they make? who did the graphic wrap? is this the way it looks from the front https://www.hotbodiesracing.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/09/ebr_1190rx_2014-15_race_bodywork-1-600x600.png

I looked into the hot bodies tail as well. How does it attach? How easily can it be removed to access fuses etc?

Tail attaches with two bolts, undo the two bolts on top, slip it off. It sort of is a pain, simple t30 fasteners.

Local buddy of mine designed, printed and installed the wrap for me. I'm sure he'd be willing to do more for others.

My bike is for sale if you want the whole thing though =)

So whats the difference between the SBK tail "also fits RS" and RACE tail? I can't find pics on the Hot Bodies site?

SBK tail would be like the RS tailsection - you would not use the stock seat just an adhesive foam padding. Would be like the one below. The race tail uses the stock seat like noone1569's.
