Since I don't have my EBR yet and will have to register it in the lovely state if CA, I was wondering if they are all CA emissions compliant? Would hate to find out I don't have a CA emissions label when I go to the DMV. Anyone else had to deal with CA when registering their EBR?

I got 3 of the bankruptcy bikes and was told they were 50 state bikes, but found no label to indicate that.

Was told it would be under the seat.

No charcoal cannisters , either.

May end up registering in Oregon.

Outstanding...lol. Fingers crossed. You havent been able to register any of them? You would think I would have looked into this before buying.

The charcoal canister is built into the airbox, it's the sealed off section on the top right inside it.

I emailed about them being CA compliant, just waiting for a response. I'll post it here later when it comes in.

Direct from EBR.

"All SX’s are 50 state compliant. Any RX 2015 or newer is 50 state compliant, and most of the 2014s.

When we launched the RX in 2014 the CARB cert was lagging behind EPA (it always does). So, the initial RX’s were 49 state certified.

The funny thing is all anyone needed to do to find the answer is read the owner’s manual.

The info is in the VIN. The 12th character (which is referred to as the 10th position in the owner’s manual) is a 0 for 50 state and a 3 for 49 state)"

That said, I have vin # 110 and 280, both of them are only 49 state compliant.

As always, thanks for the lesson Dean. Seems like there is a bit of a grey area. Hopefully since I am getting an Sx I will be good to go. Did I mention how great CA is?

So my 10th digit is a 0, that should make it CA compliant. Were any of your Vins 0 and still not compliant or were they all 3?

Mine are both 3's. All 3 RX's that I've owned were low production number machines, the earliest one was #49.

The 1190 sounds a little more aggressive than an xb. Just sayin.

Yes, I was just at Chris Rivas fresno shop and he has a RX with your pipes, aggressive sound , I was looking at his 200 mile per hour record holding bagger.

For anyone else with this question later, not all SXs are 50 state bikes. Of the 50 Laguna Blue bikes (2014), I know of at least 3 that are 49 state bikes. Before making a purchase, always check the VIN.

Any bike with over 7500 miles can be registered in CA. The 49 state vs 50 state status only matters for "new" bikes (new is defined as having less than 7500 miles).

Bought my SX from a dealer in Texas. 'Brand New' with a certificate from EBR/LAP and delivered to California, no miles. Must have been lucky.

Check your Vin # in column 10 , if it is a 0 you have a 50 state bike, if its a 3 you have a 49 state bike.

It is "0", but just surprised from its origination area.

I did add this Italian beauty, with zero intention of replacing the 1190 SeX;)

I like the exhaust tips......Hmmm

I'm confused. Is the Grey bike an 1125? I see the white of an 1190 in the back.

The grey-ish thing is an '08 XB-STT that's my comfy go-anywhere-I-damn-please and experiment (monkey) with when I feel the need to fiddle. Idle hands are the Devils workshop and all that:) EBR airbox, quick shifter, single headlight, lots of zip ties, JB-weld...:)

And ya EBRRider, I have 98% of the stuff to convert the SX to an RX once I get the time to pull the motor for the (500 mile overdue) valve adjust. Might as well, right!?! Lol. I think you can say "I told you so" now.

Can't tell if that's a naked bike or some wind tunnel experiment.
