Looking for some lower foot pegs for the 1190SX, I know Knight Design makes them for the 1125 and they can supposedly be filed down to fit the EBR. Has anyone used the Knight's pegs or any other brands on their EBR? Did you decide 1" drop or 2"? I am thinking 2" on account of my height. Asked EBR about it and they said they should have something on the website soon.

+1 I'm waiting to see what EBR comes up with.

Here you go, this is where EBR is procuring the lower pegs for the 1190 Black Lightning.

I'm going to try the Buell pegs first I had on my Guzzi Griso. They are 1" drop. If not low enough I'll get the Knight Design 2" drop.

EBR posted on Facebook a while back that these pegs have to be modified to fit. Hopefully they just require a little grinding.

Yes, you need to grind approx. 1/8" off, otherwise they point backwards a little.

Yeah no worries, I'll put it in the mill.

You've got a mill? Just a thought: you could make a pair of drop extensions that the OEM peg bolts to fairly easily, alike C. Dolan has fabbed with a welder but out of billet.

I notice that the stock foot peg folder makes you have to shift(To a lesser extant, brake)"pigeon toed". It seems that the setup was designed to be used with the straight mount pegs like a race bike.

Yeah, I could have, but now that I have Knights I'll probably stick with them. Only reason to make the bracket now would be to retain use of the stock peg.

Surprised to say the foot pegs on the 1190 aren't nearly as bad as on my other race replica. I think it is because they are a little more forward. Might not even need the 2" drop pegs.

Turns out the Knight Designs footpegs require a pretty good amount of material removed on the back of the peg to fit the 1190. And unfortunately I have to do it with a file as my mill is currently inoperable. Almost done with the right peg. I'll post pics when I finish.

Just curious how this turned out; any pictures?

If you call Knight Designs they can provide with the actual Black Lightning lowered foot pegs as they were the supplier for them to EBR.
No grinding or filing necessary, bolt on.

I emailed Knight Designs about the Black Lightning pegs; this was their response:

"We are unable to confirm this with EBR. EBR is not listed on our website and we do not have specs to cross over foot pegs.
Sorry that we cannot help you at this time."

Does the EBR Forum community know something that Knight Designs is unaware of?

I have pics of the 1" drop pegs from the Black Lightning. Having trouble uploading them. It's possible they were actually made by another company or EBR themselves and only looked like Knight pegs, but I thought someone mentioned a Knight part number at some time for them. They have a unique cut that I have not seen on any other Knight pegs.

I've just sent Knight Design an Email asking about the specified part number. So, we'll see if the story is any different.

Depends on who you talk to at Knight Designs, crazy but true.

When I first inquired I was told they didn't make them. Tried again and was able to order them. I bought a set.

Wonder if there is some kind of agreement with EBR where they couldn't sell them and occasionally a sale slips through??

I ended up using the Knights peg in the 2" drop. They work great for my ailing rt knee. I had to mess with the toe pegs for the shifter/brake. I used a home made bracket to lower the brake peg. On the shifter side a dropped bracket & Woodcraft folding peg as well as a spacer to bring the toe peg further out so as not having to point my toe in to shift. I have limiter movement in my big as I had a toe joint fused.

I wonder if just removing the folding part of the stock peg would let you utilize the different mounting points in the stock mounts and bring the pegs in to minimize the pigeon toe? I wish I was home to check! I miss my girls....:(

That is exactly what you do. Use solid pegs or those short Chinese folder's on eBay in any hole.

Yeah I tried it. That peg setup was originally made for that. The street pegs were just slapped on. The ebay folding pegs work pretty good. I use them on my Tuono. Buy a whole bunch & when they go bad I just throw them away & use new ones.

Well, I was successful! I got a response, saying they could be ordered:
1825

While I had Robin's attention, I asked about others who might see my pegs and want to order some of their own. This is the response I got:
1826

Before I went to bed last night, I paid the invoice that Robin had sent me but I'm not expecting anything to process on my order until Monday.

I almost think that I should've ordered 2 sets...

In any event, I hope this information helps everyone that is interested in purchasing a set of these pegs.

I'm on the fence about selling my polished drop pegs and getting some black ones, or just having mine hard anodized with some other parts I'm doing.

Doesn't the polishing make the tops of those large tread blocks slick?

phelan
11-04-2017, 07:09 PM
Mine were polished when I got them, but they have an interesting diamond pattern in the tops. I am positive they are Knight Designs, but not sure if they are an older design or modified version of a current design, since Knight doesn't offer polished pegs or a similar pattern. They do have models with the same 3 holes as mine though. But they aren't as slippery as one would expect. I don't recall ever slipping on them in 600 or so miles now with them.

Thanks 1313. That's quite a different response than I got. Makes you wonder if they know what they have to sell; seems like customer service could use some training.

As it turns out, I forgot a batch of parts I'm having made are being black hard anodized. So I'll just have the pegs and whole rearsets anodized at the same time since it's a bulk price. SCORE, easy enough.

Just to show that it is possible to order them, the pegs arrived Monday.

KT- How did you mount the EBay Universal pegs on the SX? Seems the holes in the rearset mounting plate are very large for an 8mm mounting bolt that all the universal pegs seem to have. Any pictures?

I have one broken peg and looking for alternative solutions before I go the Knight Designs route.

I have a pair of black Knight design drop pegs for a 1125CR. I can check them on my 1190SX if you like? It would be good to know before I post them up for sale.
