Just wondering if anyone is running anything lower than 44 and if anything more than that would be useful. The fact that they offer a 45 and 46 inclines me to ask. Based on many accounts of the 1190 hating low speeds without the low gearing I am considering the change.

You may have to add some of these to the front if you go much lower:

I kinda figured no one has gone to 46 for that reason, unless they just stunt the bike. On my other street bike I dropped a tooth on the front sprocket for more low end grunt, but it wasn't making anywhere near the HP or Torque of the EBR. I know they are running the 44 T on the Black Lightning, so that is probably they way to go if I go lower, the adage of "too much of anything is a bad thing" might apply here. I'm not looking for a wheelie machine, I can already do that on my Triumph with way less power, just more "streetability" as I wont be tracking the 1190. All the reports of low speed stalling make it sound like the low gears are a necessity for non track 1190's.

I've had my first one since March of 2014. Stalled it once when I first got it, clutch was just *slightly* different than my 1125 and I killed it. Once. Never had a problem with it since, nor on the other 2 I've had. Sold one of them, still have a matched pair of 1190's. Low speed driveability is fine, all stock gearing.

I notice the EBR low gear kit comes with a chain. Its not necessary to replace the chain when you switch to a 44 rear sprocket is it? Chain length should still be ok, right?

You will need a longer chain.

Thanks for that!
