Hi. I'm new to this forum but not AF1. I have been a 2003 Aprilia Tuono that I bought brand new.
I've been on the forum since it started.
I been looking at the prices of "new" 2014 1190SX bikes. Very good prices. What is the difference between the 14's & the 15's. I looked in the search & it looks like to me that it is just the ecu updates that you can get for free if you send the ecu/dash back to EBR? Also what are the clutch update issues?
Anything else?
I'm sure this forum is as great as the Aprilia forums!
Thanks in advance.

From what I gather, the biggest things are ECU updates and a replacement for the cluch slave cylinder and springs.

I believe the ECU updates are free if you send it though an EBR dealer. The reduced clutch effort kit is a kit available from EBR for about $165, and is supposed to reduce the clutch effort by 35%. From what I hear, it may introduce some slippage at high speeds, but I don't know personally. I'm planning on getting the clutch kit soon, because it's a super stiff pull.

You can easily get a '14 and upgrade it to '15 specs (I've done it to mine). On the SX, the easy clutch kit (lighter pull) was added and a lighter rear spring ('14s had yellow, '15s had red). I thought the software update was to flash to 2016 specs, so I think both '14s and '15s would benefit from it. (Don't quote me on that though)

'16 got a two piece tail to help with the issue of it cracking of the plastic one piece tail. I might buy a '16 tail and paint to match, but haven't done it yet.

If you're in the market, in '14, they made a limited run of 50 Laguna Blue SX bikes. One year only color, only on the SX. There are a handful of them available still at dealers. I can send you some info if you're interested.

Love that blue. Man, I wish there was a dealership near me. I'd love to see an SX in person. Only EBR within 200 miles is a '14 RX at a pre-bankruptcy dealer.

Thanks guys. I heard that R&G sells cotton reels(Spools)that have a plate on the inside to protect the swing are cause it bows out where the rear stand goes. Looked it up but could not find.
By the way I am buying a
2015 1190SX demo from a Wisconsin dealer for $8500. Black. Finishing up the wire transfer Tues I think. Can't wait.
Not a fan of blue but it is different.

Congrats on the new bike! Most hardware stores sell black nylon washers that can be added to the inside of the spool to protect the swingarm from the stand. And because EBR has such a wide swingarm you will need to get a wide rear stand, as most stands made won't fit. Pitbull makes a nice one just for the Buell 1125's and EBR 1190's.

Congrats on the new bike. Here is the R&G spool you were looking for.

Just curious, are they shipping the bike to you? If that's the same bike I was looking at on CycleTrader (from Action Power Sports) I was wondering if they offered shipping. If it is, nice grab.

Yes they are. There shipping/dealer prep cost are reasonable. Some of the other bikes have a $500 dealer "graft" & they offered shipping that was $500-700! High. Thanks. I wanted a red one but black was my second choice. The good thing on this bike is that the first check has already been done! Guess that's worth at east $500.
Bummer I just purchased a new "normal" stand.

You can "modify" the "normal" stand to fit your spools. I made mine a permanent EBR stand by welding the stand forks to the uprights to fit the rear spool width.

I bought one for a CBR and spread it out using a floor jack. I had to spread it and let it sit for a couple hours so it wouldn't spring back to original size. I also wrapped the ends with electrical tape too for the added protection. Works great.

I've got an old Handy stand when I bought my Tuono in 03. Think I'l work on that to make it fit. I've 2 other rear stands. I just bought a new one before I bought the EBR, bummer.
