I'm attaching the pics upside down or in the correct orientation from either my laptop or iPad, but when they load they always load inverted, wierd.
Great bike.

What front wheel, brake discs and kit for alterations under the two discs?
It's Brembo M4 calipers? Front fork from RSV4 Factory?

I purchased from LAP the RS triple clamp which has a 56mm bottom and 54mm top triple.
I used an aprilia tuono cast front wheel and aprilia ohlins forks 56mm bottom. Purchased some aluminium tube and had it machined to fill the gap between the top of the 51mm forks and 54mm top clamp.
The forks are 8mm closer together than the aprilia so I had 4mm machined off each side of the wheel to have the discs mount correctly for the brake Calipers and 4mm from the wheel spacer. As the spindle was torqued 4mm protruded on the side opposite to the spacer.
The Showa BPF forks weren't to my liking even after a revalve, so I improved the handling and the braking for my liking.
weighed all the parts and the weight was only increased by .78lbs.

Cheers guys, I'm going to have the fork outers anodised black next winter. Still have another modification to come, I have a machine shop making head stem bearing holders that will give me one more degree of rake(23.4 degrees).
I spoke to one of the guys from the Pegasus race team in Europe and they ran .5 to 1 degree change of rake at times track dependant.
I like to experiment with suspension set up, as do most of us.

I'm considering doing the same thing with Ohlins from a Duc 1098 S.

Wouldn't it have been easier to use disks that had less dish out, than it was to machine the hub ?

Have a line on a Dymag with ceramic disks that would bring the weight down .

Will use Brembo Monoblocks.

The reason I machined the wheel hub which wasn't difficult is that I had a set of wheels and discs already from having owned Aprilia motorcycles, good luck on your build.
Please post some pics of your build when convenient.
cheers.

Ducati 1098 S Ohlins fit , but was 1 mm smaller at the top.

Didn't have any .020 / . 5 mm shim stock, so machine an aluminum tube with .5mm wall thickness.

Used 110 springs for my 220 ( in leathers ) rider weight.

Original springs in the Ohlins forks were 100.

Disks need to be spaced to 4.950 Inch outside to outside to fit within calipers.

Good looking bike, gold looks good against the red. Nice work.
What rear wheel did you fit and what modifications were required?

Have you done much riding to see how the dual disks feel in comparison? Are they more linear and less "grabby"? Can you feel any difference in handling (particularly over irregular surfaces) from the slightly higher wheel weight?

The-rear-wheel-is-a-Forged-Magnesium-Marchesini.

I had to respace it to center, and make a rear disk spacer and adapter.

The sprocket had to be spaced out .090 " and the disk .834 ".

Actually my wheel and front brake setup weigh about the same.

I had a line on some ceramic disks, that weigh next to nothing, but they got away.

Weather has been crappy on Palomar the last few weeks, so haven't run the bike hard, yet.

Got ya. Thanks! :thumb:

This may be a controversial opinion around here, but I think they should at least consider a dual set-up on production RX's (if not all bikes). The rim brake may be a good idea, but I think it hurts them more than it helps them. The perception (rightly or wrongly) seems to be that the current brake doesn't work well enough for racing. And since they won't have the money to prove that wrong on the race-track any time soon, I think they should give in and go with a set-up that will be more generally accepted.

Cheap on ebay.

Wanted to make at least one different, though all have my Akra / HMF homebrew exhaust.

Well here is a photo of the offset and cantered bearing cup holders and bearings, ended up with .7 of a degree in rake change keeping wall thickness safe. I only found metric bearings that were suitable, so the steering stem is now at 25mm Diameter instead of 25.4(1 inch)
Will post my possibly some what subjective findings once I have gone for a decent ride.( waiting on a decent steering damper I ordered).

Nice work!

So we went a different route and used the RSV4 triple tree and made inserts to retro fit the steering stem from the EBR. Here are pics of my race 1190rx with RSV4 front end.

The Forks have Ktech Internals, Brembo GP4RX calipers,Brembo RCS19 Master, Spiegler lines, Ohlines Steering Damper, RSV4 factory front wheel (forged aluminum) and the Brake Tech carriers come back with the CMC rotors. Will weigh much less than the front end of the EBR and have improved braking and feel. Just need to dial it in before the first race!

We are making a block that will act as the steering stop and then a bracket to fit around the right fork to accommodate the Ohlins steering damper in the OEM location.

A block for EBR triple trees and Ohlins damper?

there is a screw towards the bottom of the triple tree that we put a small block in place to act as steering stop. We made an adjustable bracket for the right fork to install the ohlins damper in the stock damper mounting place. For some reason I can't upload Photobucket images anymore. Will keep trying.

Is the raised part of the seat to keep you from being right up on the tank?

Who did your seat?

Yes the raised part of the seat is to stop me sliding forward on braking and to close up that small gap between the seat and airbox cover. Comseat on smart road Modbury in South Australia recovered the seat for me.

Here's a few shots of mine. It's ready for the season! I have a new top yoke to fit so it's not obvious it's an Aprilia front end. Time to dial in the front suspension this upcoming weekend.
