Today again melted right stock belly pan from the hot muffler. At this time there were no fire.
I want to remove the catalyst mesh from the muffler.
Has anyone tried to do so? ECU plan to put stock.

I think the catalytic material is in the end of the tube, just before it goes into the muffler.
I could be wrong, but that's the design according to a drawing I saw.
But then again, the owners manual says that both the low and high beam lights are supposed to be on for the high beams...it's not that way..!

Yes, catalytic mesh located near the exit in the quarter-outer silencer.
Today decided not to touch this mesh, just stick thermal insulation to the inside of belly pan.

... just stick thermal insulation to the inside of belly pan.

this is what i did too. I´ve used this:https://www.louis.de/artikel/hitzschutzschild-selbstklebend/10027024

Yes, Christian - namely a thermal protection.
Already ordered from Finland, will bring to the end of this week.

Today stick insulation to the belly pan. I ride a bit - she began to flake off from the heat.
I don't know what to do...

There is an option to make a homemade lower muffler without cat in smaller diameter. But I'm not sure that is a good idea without dyno. I am afraid that at high revs AFR will be poor and can damage the engine.

You could just cut the belly pan out where it is melting. If it is getting that hot maybe the cat is being overheated from getting plugged up from when 02 sensors failed?

Both O2 sensors replaced and are functioning properly. But the catalyst mesh shifted back to a half-inch in the muffler for unknown reasons, may thus reduced passage cross section of muffler and it became warm longer.

FWIW: The HMF slip on exhaust opens up the space underneath and come with insulating material.

I just installed on a SX model, so belly pan not an issue at this time.

Do have an RX model coming in the next week or 2 that may need.

The stock cat will be gone on that, as well.

I'd lose the cat as soon as you can!
