View Full Version : hello from aussie new member and some 1190 questions please
hi everyone, i'm Nick. I'm looking at a 14sx 0019.
So far i've read through these forums to check the starter motor, so thanks for that. Anything else?
*. Does anyone know off hand if the spring kits for the clutch can still be supplied from ebr for no charge.
*. Does anyone have a picture of a sx with dean adams and hmf exhausts, i can only find rx's.
*. Is there a difference between the red rear spring and the yellow?
Thanks guys, I really hope ebr stays around.

I'm not sure about "no charge," but the spring kits are available. If you're purchasing from a dealer (or ex-dealer), maybe the spring kit is something that you could negotiate into the purchase. To be honest, the lighter springs seem to cause clutch slipping issues, and I've not really had any big issue with running the stock clutch, even with the short black folding EBR levers. Someone else will have to address your other questions.
thanks mate. i didn't think it was too bad really but thought of stockpiling it if its available. I was under the impression that 2015 bikes received an upgrade and 2014 bikes were supplied the kit on a goodwill thing from ebr. thanks again. I'll see how i go.

I too am using shorty levers with stock clutch springs with no issues and I ride around town a lot.
The SX red spring is softer than the yellow RX shock spring.

I _think_ the red spring is a softer rate one.

If you do not already own a 2014 I think you will get use to the clutch quickly. It also gets easier as the bike breaks in a bit. Never notice it after the first 500 miles, my arms are like twigs too.
thanks J. I think it'll be fine too. Just I remember the first time I rode an SX,a 15, i don't recall myself thinking of the clutch pull at all, whereas this time i noticed its got some. It's not a deal breaker or anything like that though. ta mate.
Thanks Dean, I think it would suit me better either the whole system coated or the whole system polished. I'll definately chat to you about it if all goes well and it ends up in the garage.
On the tuning side of things, did you discover whether the stock tune has the ignition retarded in the first few gears at low revs, similar to the jap bikes or is it already at its best setting? Did you have access to the ignition timing when re-programming? Thanks

I left the ignition timing tables alone. It runs vert well with the changes in fuel though.

The yellow spring is a slightly stiffer rate than the red.
